Quality control

Yamatsune’s challenge to sock standards

#

Quality control

Creating standards.

There are no clear standards for socks. Of course, we sometimes receive orders saying that ○○ company’s products are excellent in terms of quality, and we want you to refer to them. However, that is a very difficult task. This is because quality is not just about appearance, but is the culmination of all aspects such as material procurement, process control, production base, logistics, design, and planning. Naturally, you cannot imitate “quality” by simply imitating the shape. Therefore, based on our track record and experience of producing millions of pairs of socks annually, and our quality control know-how, we would like to compile the standards for what Yamatsune Quality is. At the same time, we will disclose it as much as possible to promote understanding of quality and possibilities for production and development.

Componentization of quality points

Shape

Socks are not just simple L-shaped items, but rather cylindrical items and three-dimensional objects. For this reason, knitting machines are generally used, but advances in equipment have made it possible to do various things such as changing the thickness, stitches, and materials. As a result, there are a huge number of variations in shapes and specifications. We are working on patterning these.

Componentization

We are working to componentize and propose various combinations of specifications so that they can be freely set. The processes that can be done now, mass production processes, and quality issues become clear, and we can achieve important efficiency improvements in production management. We can also provide information to customers in an easy-to-understand manner.
